Which book do you recommend?
Currently (2024) the official book is PRINCE2® 7 Managing Successful Projects - but check that against the exam you're taking based on the year and the version of PRINCE2. The practitioner exam will tell you which book you're allowed to have in the exam.
I am actually very new to this idea and haven’t checked any courses or exams. I thought first to read the book, to see if this is indeed something that I want and then move forward if necessary. I am taking your advice :)
it worked for me! 😃
Really really informative
Glad you think so! I appreciate the message 😀
Thank You 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Totally agree with what you said Stuart 😊 To supplement what was said, a simple way to think about and write risks is; There is a risk that (risk event) ........due to (cause).......resulting in (impact). An example fully written; risk event There is a risk that UX integration will be more complex than anticipated cause due to the integration with this system not being attempted before impact resulting in additional cost* and schedule* days overrun *add quantified metrics I hope this helps someone! Cheers Geoff
I tried but it's not working 😢 does it also work when the figures are with percentage?
What is that track backing . That sax line is tough💪🏿💪🏿. Sounds like NY
I love that tune too, I was so tempted to use it in waayyy more videos! It's called Mayweather by warmkeys. 🎶
Bet I make music under the name Deshaun Sequence2
we want Shawn
Just got dropped into a failing project midway… many of the steerco has left 😂
Yikes! Good luck!!! Hope you can bring it under control.
Very useful, thanks!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks 👍
This 2-minute presentation is worth its weight in gold. Being dropped into the deep end of a running project happens all too often. Videos like this, and many others from the influential PMO, are incredibly useful in a pragmatic, applicable way. Wonderful stuff!
Damage control initiated, be cautious how much you dig as that can land you in just as much trouble for challenging sales than delivering with a smaller margin.
A good point. 👍 And in digging, the intention is to avoid appearing negative - like you're hunting for reasons to not do the work.
Thank you for making this type of content!
You're welcome! I hope it helped 😀
What a guy to do to get people believe in you handling larger project. Starting out as scheduler and got pmp now yearned for greater challenge (and the money reward that comes with it!) 22 years on the field
Demonstrating your ability to deliver medium sized projects with complex relationships tends to help convince hiring managers and - most importantly - yourself. That said, I’ve seen first time PMs step in to take over huge projects that were in trouble and save them; in those cases strong familiarity with the subject and stakeholders was the key.
I don’t think Labour have a manifesto
I’ve heard they and conservatives are both publishing next week.
How are u sir I like your videos and I am interested in project management because it's my field of interest despite my back ground being civil engineering. Am coming to London next month, is it possible that I meet you?
Hey, I am considering organising a group summer meet up of some sort, I just need to get on with the details... However, I will be at this networking event on 16 July: www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7199737986287050753/
Thanks looking forward to attending the event.
I am starting as Bid and Project Management Graduate, your videos are really helping me learn before I start. Thank you.
Thank you, that’s wonderful to hear! Best of luck 👍
Thank you for the video it brings alot of motivation. Does the PRINCE2 worth it also for Europe in general?
Thank you. I’m not sure - I recommend checking in local job listings and maybe ask recruiters. My gut feel is it would not be as sought after there, but it’s worth checking.
Great video! Thinking of buying the book and doing it myself! Are the questions very paragraph based or are we talking single/ multiple choice questions?
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. It was all multiple choice when I did it, I think it is now - but see if you can get some current mock exams to verify that.
Thanks for sharing this Stuart, I am sure it will resonate with many people for years to come. I do hope for you by knowing how much you'll help other people in similar situations that there is another side or light at the end of the tunnel, that it will help everyone in those situations. I also believe that, by reflecting you gain a greater perspective on things.
You really drive home a point, Stuart - just how much Project Management is at the heart of an enterprise!
Thank you, I think it’s terribly overlooked at times.
Thanks for the video! As a 'green' PM it gave me a better understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to mature in this field.
Thank you, you’re very kind. I’m glad the video has helped you. Whilst the tools and techniques are important and helpful; your drive and focus to get things done will be what makes the biggest difference. Good luck 👍

I like these short videos on a specific kpi. IRR is another good one more people should understand and recently i found XIRR . That considers the timeline of what is invested/ withdrawn and when. Neat stuff keep up the good work. The video audio and lighting have all come along as well.
Great! I'm glad you enjoyed it. And thanks for noticing the improvements, they take a lot of work - nice that it's noticed; much appreciated! Have a great rest of the weekend.
You JUST BLEW me out the WATER! 😎😁😀Thank you for being the best teacher in the BUSINESS!😊
You are so welcome! 👍
One of the best practical advises given for portfolio prioritisation..
I’m glad the video helped you! 👍😀
this has been helpful as i am writing our first risk register, i subscribed but have not received the template.....
Hi, please check your junk mail for a verification email to confirm your details. It loads the template directly from that.
After ten years in an emergency services role I'm looking at a career change to project management so your videos are really insightful! Just out of interest, what did you do prior to a PM role? As well as the Prince2 qualification, I'm guessing there's other transferable skills required?
There was a time when I was a cocktail barman… this video explains how I got into project management: ua-cam.com/video/i2ltq_YSCXI/v-deo.htmlsi=4R6IofK2j96eA1Rs
I am now 12th I am going to choose project manager as a career would it be good 🤔
It's a great career choice! This video will show you 10 reasons why! ua-cam.com/video/I5OaYb-bNj4/v-deo.html

Is it Ok to use word "KILL" in the profession management evnironment.?
I really hope so!!
Hi Stuart, question from down under. I’m keen to do my formal qualifications in PM after a number of years thinking about it. My question is should I do Prince2 foundation and then Prince2 Agile practitioner or Prince2 agile for both considering I’ll most likely use it within a government setting? Or do you have another recommendation?
Great question. It depends why you want the qualification - if it’s to get a new job, check job site listings to see which certifications are most often listed (if at all), speak to recruiters and get their insight based on the local market. If it’s for fun/leisure, do whichever you enjoy the most. If it’s for the challenge, do the most difficult. Your purpose should make the choice for you 👍
Great one.
Thank you 🙏
Your lessons sounds like it’s meant for people that are already used with RACI matrix, Lost you there multiple times
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate you for taking the time. I’ll circle back to the topic soon, and hopefully get the level right.
Next step: How to add to-do list from the Action Item.
In your view, how much knowledge should the project manager have of the technical subject matter they’re managing?
That's such a good question, and one that holds people back from moving sectors. In my opinion, they need very little subject matter knowledge to begin with so long as they are surrounded by experts, are comfortable with being the least knowledgable person in the room, and to learn fast. Within a few weeks they should ideally be in a position of knowledge where they can read and understand a book on the topic of the subject, but not need to so informed they can write the book. Their strengths need to lie elsewhere. But that's just my opinion - and it's why I managed to move from government to health to banking to fintech to retail and then to insurance.
This video answers why we need project management, and is part of the larger Project Management Explained video - click here to see the whole video: ua-cam.com/video/TTxVsINdwnY/v-deo.html
Thanks for sharing this! You have a great way of putting things accross and it's really refreshing to see such honesty. Keep it up and good luck in your current role!
You're welcome, and thank you for the kind feedback.
Thanks mate. I have just stepped from a senior project coordinator to a PM and these videos are really helpful, clear and concise. Thank you sir !
I’m glad they could help! 👍
Excellent introduction! nicely balances how to use the tool with understanding the PM principles.
Thanks Mike, it’s a beast of a tool - considering do more of these focused looks at a variety of particular functions.
great job
good job
You mean you can create a project schedule using a built in template. To create a project plan you don't need a Microsoft project online also, you can use a word document. A project plan is a component of Integration Project Planning
Amazing! 🎉
I especially avoid having meetings that need reporting out on Mondays because it means that it encourages people working of the weekend to prepare. Just moving it to later in the week actually clears this off people’s plates prior to the weekend and is more motivating for people
